Discipline: Biological Sciences. A position for a postdoctoral research fellow with a molecular biology background is available in a lab focused on vascular smooth muscle cell biology and integrative physiology.
The successful candidate will be involved in studying the function of the calcium and calmodulin-dependent kinase II in endothelium and smooth muscle in novel genetic models. He/she will have access to in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo research models, as well as various research techniques and advanced equipment. The successful candidate is expected to qualify for training grants and fellowships.
Candidates must have an MD or PhD degree.
The ideal candidate will be a recent PhD and should have a strong background in either vascular pharmacology/physiology or molecular biology and genetic models of vascular diseases and will be expected to acquire new complementary skills during the fellowship.
Experience with vascular physiology, incl. reactivity studies or molecular biology techniques including PCR, qRT-PCR, transfection, Western Blot, cell culture is essential.
The ability to design, execute and interpret experiments is expected.
Applicants should be passionate about conducting scientific research, demonstrate ethics and integrity, and be able to work both independently and as an effective member of a research team. Experience in in vivo models of vascular and ocular diseases, molecular cloning, micro-dissection, cell, bioinformatics, histology/immunohistochemistry is desirable.
