Details: Work 8 hour shifts scheduled between 2:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Work Week:Rotating
Details: Work every other weekend. Work alternating weeks: Week 1) Work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; Week 2) Work Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

License/Certifications:
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
Other Special Qualifications:
  • Ability to calculate ratios and proportions for pharmaceuticals as demonstrated by a work sample.
Additional Information:Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners must be obtained within 30 days from date of hire and maintained for the duration of employment as mandated by Iowa Code.
Desired Qualifications:Prefer ability to prioritize tasks in time sensitive situations. Prefer previous work experience in an environment that included inventory maintenance activities. Prefer knowledge of windows-based computer programs. Prefer experience working in a team environment. Prefer previous work experience in healthcare. Prefer National Career Readiness Certificate At Silver Level.
Duties:Under general supervision by a pharmacist, compound sterile products for parenteral use in accordance with principles of aseptic technique and in accordance with prescriber orders and department policies and procedures.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school graduation including a general mathematics course, or the equivalent.

2. Experience requirement:

a. Two years experience in a position directly related to the natural sciences, or

b. Two years post high school education in the natural sciences or related area, or

c. A combination of related experience and related post high school education to equal two years.

3. National certification as a certified pharmacy technician by a National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited pharmacy technician certification program and examination is required. Must meet ongoing education requirements and maintain certification.

4. An exception to the certification requirement is available to pharmacy interns who maintain registration as a pharmacy intern (per Iowa Administrative Code – Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians, Section 3.3).

Note: Per Board of Pharmacy Regulations (Iowa Administrative Code -- 657-Chapter 3, Pharmacy Technicians):

1. A pharmacy technician must register with the Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment.

2. Effective July 1, 2009, all pharmacy technicians must be certified by July 1, 2010.
