Position Details

Full/Part Time Status:Full Time

Position Description:

We are seeking an intellectually curious, self-motivated and highly skilled post-baccalaureate research intern to join the Kliemann lab to participate in our social cognitive neuroscience research.

The research intern will be a core member of a collaborative research group and will actively contribute to ongoing research in the lab (e.g., behavioral, electrophysiology, neuroimaging data collection and analysis, developing and maintaining data analyses scripts) and support administrative aspects of research (e.g., recruiting and scheduling participants, participant database management, implementing and maintaining replicable scientific practices). The candidate will have the opportunity to advance their own research interests and is strongly encouraged to do so (e.g., presenting original work at conferences and workshops, possibility for co-authorships on publications). The research in the lab offers experience in interacting with different human participant populations in research settings (healthy, psychiatric (e.g., Autism), neurological (e.g., brain lesions, epilepsy). The position entails learning new skills in scientific programming, multimodal data analysis (behavioral, neuroimaging, possibility for electrophysiology), as well as science communication. The lab provides a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The position is an excellent opportunity to gain active research experience and particularly well-suited for individuals who are preparing for graduate or medical school.

We are looking for someone who can contribute to one or more of the following projects:

  • Investigating the neural basis of social cognitive difficulties in Autism with behavioral and neuroimaging experiments.

  • Characterizing the connectivity of the social brain with fMRI.

  • Plasticity and reorganization of the brain in patients with brain lesions (e.g., epilepsy, focal brain lesions).

The initial appointment will be for one year beginning as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal for a 2nd year depending on performance and available funding. The list of qualifications is below.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting salary of $38,755 in the first year;

  • Optional health insurance package and dental plan;

  • Retirement plan participation;

  • Covered by University Workers Compensation;

  • Fifteen days paid time off per year plus paid University holidays.
