Position Description: | Drs. Bengi Baran and Amanda McCleery at the University of Iowa’s Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences are seeking a full-time post-baccalaureate research intern for their collaborative projects for the Research Program of Excellence in Schizophrenia. The overarching goal of this project is to conduct collaborative, highly translational research to elucidate the role of cerebellar and thalamo-cortical circuitries in cognitive deficits and symptoms in schizophrenia. The techniques employed include polysomnography (sleep monitoring with electroencephalography), magnetic resonance imaging, event-related potentials, psychophysiology and behavioral/cognitive/clinical assessments. The research intern will be a core member of a collaborative research group and will actively contribute to all aspects of the ongoing project. Primary responsibilities include administrative aspects of research (e.g., recruiting and scheduling participants, participant database management) as well as data collection and analysis. Our collaborative research program provides a highly supportive environment. This is an excellent clinical research opportunity for someone bound for graduate school in psychology, neuroscience, or medicine. In addition to training in several psychology and neuroscience research methods, the position offers opportunities for co-authorships on publications and presenting work at conferences. |
