Position Description:

IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering, THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA, has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in digital design with application to high-speed small craft under the supervision of Professor Frederick Stern and in collaboration with Dr. Matteo Diez, CNR-INM. The initial appointment is full-time for 2 years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of continued funding. This is an immediate opening and applications will be considered until a successful candidate has been identified. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Education Requirement:

Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or closely related discipline prior to starting this position is required.

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated interest in the use/development of computational methods to assess and optimize design performance, multidisciplinary design optimization, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence methods; highest priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in computational fluid-structure interaction, preferably with high-fidelity solvers.

Strong coding experience and skills using HPC with MPI and programming languages (Fortran or C or Python).

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
