Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics at the College of Pharmacy, University of Iowa has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral scholar in the laboratory of Dr. Reza Nejadnik. The University of Iowa provides an outstanding research environment, and the research lab is being established in the College of Pharmacy Building, a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility, providing an exciting and unparalleled work environment for conducting cutting-edge drug development research.
We are seeking a highly motivated and an independent postdoctoral scholar, with training and expertise in the field of protein pharmaceuticals. The research projects provide opportunities to have major, positive impacts on human medicine by investigating the causes and mechanisms of aggregation and particle formation in therapeutic proteins. This position will offer numerous opportunities for the right candidate to hone their experimental, project management and scientific writing skills, by working closely with the PI on setting up the lab and working on grants and manuscripts. Additionally, the postdoctoral scholar's expertise will be strongly enhanced in the general areas of formulation and delivery science, pharmaceutical biotechnology and drug development.
|Education Requirement:||A Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry, pharmaceutics, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
|Required Qualifications:||Excellence in the field by evidence of completed research projects and publications.
Strong background in some combination of the following areas: formulation of biologic drugs, drug delivery, protein degradation, protein-material interaction, particle analysis, biophysical characterization, biologic drug development.
|Desirable Qualifications:||In depth experience in the area of protein biophysics involving structure-folding-stability relationships.
Hands-on experience with some combination of the following: chromatographic method development as well as techniques used for biophysical characterization of biopharmaceutical products such as calorimetry, spectroscopy, higher order structure analysis, protein mass spectroscopy, CE, HPLC, ELISA, particle analysis methods, as well as quartz crystal microbalance, ellipsometry and other methods relevant to studying adsorption of polymers/biomolecules onto surfaces.
Curiosity and a passion for biomedical science; and an ability to work independently while being an integral part of a cooperative, productive team.
