| Position Description: | University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a BE/BC breast surgeon to join our high-volume, academic, breast-only practice alongside four fellowship-trained surgeons. The successful candidate will become part of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary breast oncology team in a collegial and supportive environment. Our NAPBC-accredited Breast Center brings breast surgery, genetic counseling, and medical oncology together in one clinic and is immediately adjacent to our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. Our team is supported by dedicated nurse navigators and two advanced practice providers who lead our high-risk and survivorship clinics. We also have a robust, collaborative academic plastic surgery practice that performs all forms of breast reconstruction. An Academic Breast Surgery Practice University of Iowa Health Care is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical system and serves as the state’s tertiary referral center. The Breast Center is located within the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Iowa’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, providing an exceptional environment for comprehensive breast surgical oncology care, collaboration, and academic growth. Our 811-bed public teaching hospital supports multiple training programs, including the Carver College of Medicine MD and PA program, a highly regarded general surgery residency, and our multidisciplinary breast surgery fellowship. This provides the opportunity to participate in medical education at every level. This position offers a unique opportunity for a surgeon seeking to build or advance an academic career in breast surgical oncology. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level within the University of Iowa Health Care Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery. Faculty appointment may be on either the clinical (non-tenure) track or tenure track, depending on experience and research interests. The successful applicant will have opportunities to engage in clinical research, translational science, and/or health services research, with access to robust institutional resources and mentorship to support their academic development. We welcome candidates with established or developing research programs who are eager to contribute to a dynamic and growing division. Candidates on the tenure track must have experience in research at a level that enables procurement of external funding. Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
