Tenure-track Assistant Professor, U.S. Women’s History

The History department at the University of Iowa invites applications for a position in U.S. Women’s or Gender History at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2027. We welcome applications in any era or area of specialization. The successful candidate must have a record of excellence in research and scholarship; be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in U.S. Women’s History (including general education surveys and courses tailored to their own research specialization); and be prepared to engage in the programmatic missions of the department.

Screening will begin September 15 and continue until an offer is made. The selected candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2027.

• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in a broad range of courses


• Potential to teach and advise graduate students outside U.S. Women’s history, based on thematic strengths
