The University of Iowa Department of Psychiatry is seeking faculty for a position(s) of Clinical Assistant Professor in Adult Psychiatry. 

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

• MD or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution

• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program


• Clinical training, experience, or demonstrated competency in Addiction Psychiatry, including the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders


• Experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and substance use disorder management


• Eligibility for medical licensure (or active licensure) in the state of Iowa


• Demonstrated clinical experience in general psychiatry, including diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders across care settings


• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in hospital or outpatient settings


• Strong commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care

• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN certification preferred upon hire or within required timeframe)

• Fellowship training or specialization in Addiction Psychiatry


• Academic experience includes:
  
  
  
  • Teaching medical students, residents, or fellows
  
  
  • Delivering lectures, grand rounds, or didactic sessions
  
  
  
  


• Interest or experience in psychiatric research, including publications or clinical research involvement


• Familiarity with innovative or advanced psychiatric treatments such as:
  
  
  
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
  
  
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  
  
  
  


• Experience in quality improvement initiatives in clinical settings


• Demonstrated interest in mentorship, education, and career development for trainees


• Professional membership in organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, or related societies


• Strong interest in outpatient psychiatry and integrated mental health care delivery
