| Position Description: | Position Description The clinical track at the University of Iowa has a career progression that includes promotion (assistant, associate, full professor). The College of Education provides support for clinical faculty in professional development, conference travel, and scholarship related to clinical faculty members’ areas of work. The position will begin August 19, 2026. Clinical faculty are expected to teach the equivalent of 3-4 courses per semester and engage in other program-related responsibilities such as curriculum development, school partnerships, and area coordination. This position involves a strong focus on school partnerships and practicum experiences within the Elementary Education Program. Practicum experiences emphasize core subject areas such as literacy and mathematics, preparing teacher candidates to apply instructional practices in a variety of classroom settings. We seek applicants who actively collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and the community to foster education that prioritizes access, opportunity, and belonging for all those involved in the growth and development of students. Faculty are required to collaborate with K–12 teachers for at least four hours per semester, contributing to instruction in classroom settings. They will also participate in service activities to the program, department, college, and university. | Education Requirement: | An earned doctorate by August 1, 2026 in Elementary Education or a related discipline. |
| Required Qualifications: | (1) Teaching experience in elementary education in school settings; (2) Experience in developing and sustaining partnerships with local schools and communities; (3) Expertise in designing, coordinating, and/or supervising field experiences in teacher education; and (4) Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. |
| Desirable Qualifications: | (1) Evidence of effective teaching abilities in teacher education in higher education; (2) Valid licensure or certification in Elementary Education; and (3) Experience contributing to a welcoming and respectful academic environment. |
