Position Description: | The Carver College of Medicine at The University of Iowa seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation in the Department of Internal Medicine. The Carver College of Medicine is among the top twenty-five public medical schools in National Institutes of Health funding and the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is in its 25th year as an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Department of Internal Medicine is an integral part of UI Health Care which is a partnership between the College of Medicine and The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the United States and has close affiliation with the adjacent Iowa City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. With approximately 45 faculty, the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation has an exceptional record of achievement in research, patient care and teaching, as well as a distinguished record of national and international leadership. Multiple division faculty direct various NIH and VA funded research endeavors spanning bench to bedside. The division prides itself in participating in a program that is vigorous, friendly, and open to those who wish to seek answers to important clinical and biological problems. The Director will partner with departmental, cancer center, and health system leadership to advance the success of the division, and in this capacity, represent the interests of the division and health system. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, appointments and evaluations; managing educational, clinical and research programs; fiscal planning and management; and both short term and long-term strategic planning.
