Position Description:

The University of Iowa College of Nursing seeks applicants with strong foundations in teaching and practice.  This position is being offered as full or part time (50% or greater effort) nine-month appointment starting in the Fall 2025 semester and will include didactic and practicum instruction, primarily in mental health nursing.  Faculty positions for undergraduate and graduate-entry into practice programs are available in all ranks of instructional track or clinical track (non-tenure).

Education Requirement:

  • Earned master’s from an accredited school of nursing with national certification in specialty area (when applicable)

Required Qualifications:

  • Expertise and at least 3 years of experience in clinical specialty area.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa.  Selected candidates must complete the State of Iowa Registered Nurse licensure process before appointment.

  • Evidence of potential in teaching in nursing which can be demonstrated through clinical practice, experience in classroom or clinical teaching (including as a teaching assistant), staff education/development, precepting, earned teaching certificate, advising, mentoring, or other means.

  • Evidence of potential to contribute to departmental and collegiate service.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing with national certification in specialty area (when applicable).

  • Established record of excellence in teaching, mentoring students, advising students, formal mentoring of new faculty, or developing curricula or pedagogical approaches.

  • Established record of excellence and impact in service at the college, educational program and/or university level.

  • Evidence of collegiate and/or university leadership.
