Position Description: | University of Iowa Health Care seeks its inaugural Chief Physician Executive. University of Iowa Health Care represents the integrated healthcare enterprise of the University of Iowa, which includes the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center and all affiliated clinics, UI Carver College of Medicine, and UI Physicians. The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center is one of the largest university-owned teaching hospitals in the United States and sits adjacent to the Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. As University of Iowa Health Care’s clinical enterprise has grown to serve the needs of more patients and communities across Iowa, there is an identified need for a physician leader to oversee quality across the entire health system including hospitals, physician groups, and at current and future affiliate sites of care. The Chief Physician Executive will be responsible for ensuring efficient and patient-centered care throughout the health system while positioning Iowa to be successful in an increasingly competitive healthcare landscape. As the senior physician leader of the clinical enterprise, the Chief Physician Executive will provide leadership to integrate clinical care across all entities of the system, while advancing and continuously improving quality, patient safety, and operations of the health system. The Chief Physician Executive will create system-wide clinical standards that add value and align with the University of Iowa Health Care mission, vision, values, and guiding principles. The Chief Physician Executive will have a commitment to providing superior patient outcomes by leading in the delivering of safe, high quality, efficient and patient-centered care. Appointment may be to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor level on either the clinical or tenure track, consistent with clinical experience and research interest. The successful candidate may become a member of one or more departments participating in this recruitment. Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check |
