Position Description: | The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Experimental Therapeutics invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor (12 month, tenured/tenure-track) with interests in pharmacological and/or toxicological sciences, who will direct a basic science research program that synergizes with ongoing biomedical research initiatives at the University of Iowa (e.g. cancer, neuroscience, environmental health, metabolism/metabolic diseases or cardiovascular diseases). Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a related discipline, and relevant postdoctoral research experience or work experience is sought for applicants applying at the Assistant Professor level. A successful candidate is expected to establish or already have established a self-sustaining, nationally recognized research program through extramural funding and have demonstrated an exceptional record of published scholarship. Applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics currently consists of 20 faculty members, and more than 50 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting scientists who participate in the research programs within the department. The research environment is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative, with faculty members having broad expertise in basic mechanisms of disease, drug discovery and delivery, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacogenomics, medicinal chemistry and pharmacokinetics. The University of Iowa is a major national research university with academic and research programs in the Carver College of Medicine, College of Public Health, College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and College of Dentistry that provide an outstanding environment for successful collaborative research and teaching efforts. Preferred applicants will have translational or applied research interests that align with one or more of these interdisciplinary research centers or institutes.
