The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry is conducting a search for a full-time tenure-track Departmental Executive Officer (Department Head) of the Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry. This is a tenure track position at the Associate or Full Professor level.
Major responsibilities include:
Preventive and Community Dentistry has a number of functions serving the mission and vision of the College including: oral health and prevention, geriatrics and special needs care, service and community learning and health policy research.
The department is responsible for education in all four years of the DDS curriculum, including didactic and clinical content in preventive dentistry, behavioral science, ethics, community dentistry, and special needs and geriatric patient care, as well as coordination of senior dental students’ extramural service-learning programs.
The department offers a master’s degree program in Dental Public Health preparing graduates educationally to pursue ABDPH Board Certification. The department has 16 faculty members with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Faculty are very active in research and in the past two years have generated approximately $14.7M of external grant support.
