Position Description:

The Department of Family Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty position (tenure/clinical track) to provide expertise on educational measurement in medical education, faculty development on quantitative and mixed methods research in medical education, and teaching in the Carver College of Medicine’s Master in Medical Education (MME) program. This individual would provide service to the college (20%), the Department of Family Medicine (20%), and the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education (OCRME) (60%).

This faculty member would join a team of five in the Master in Medical Education program in OCRME. OCRME is an integral part of the Carver College of Medicine’s educational program. For more than 40 years, OCRME faculty and staff have provided expertise, leadership, and mentoring in educational scholarship and innovation. Faculty not only teach courses and advise students enrolled in certificate and advanced degree programs, they also provide consultation and advice to the college’s faculty, staff, and educational leadership. OCRME faculty and staff are national and international leaders in healthcare education, present at national and international forums, publish in educational and scientific journals, and take on senior positions in professional organizations.

We are seeking an individual with expertise and a track record of success in:

  • Consultation in Educational Measurement and Assessment

  • Teaching in Quantitative Methods

  • Faculty Development in Educational Scholarship

In collaboration with OCRME’s Director, this position would play a key role in the oversight of medical education measurement and evaluation for the Carver College of Medicine. This position will also collaborate closely with colleagues in instructional technology, instructional design, and curriculum development in the implementation of learner assessment tools.

Education Requirement:

PhD or equivalent degree in Health Sciences Education, Higher Education, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Educational Assessment, or related field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in higher education (healthcare education preferred)

  • Experience revising and creating course curriculum, assessing course effectiveness, and delivering instruction

  • Minimum of five years’ experience providing consultation and mentoring to colleagues, departments and/or organizations

  • Demonstrated success in learner assessment data analysis and management

  • Experience assisting in interpreting and understanding the psychometric properties of their learner tests and scores

  • Proficiency in using typical office and statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS, STATA)

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including an aptitude for listening and the capacity to educate through both written and verbal communications

  • Proficiency in teamwork and coordination as part of a dynamic, diverse, collegial team

  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success with online teaching and learning

  • Experience with medical education accreditation processes (e.g., LCME, ACGME)

  • Experience with both undergraduate and graduate medical education
