This teaching position is a 12-month appointment and renewable every three years. The preferred start date is August 1, 2022. Applications are sought from candidates with a demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching of basic microbiology with an emphasis on the relevance to human health and diseases.

The long-standing REU program has been well established in the Department, which is directed by a senior faculty member and assisted by an experienced staff member in the Department. Recruitment and selection emphasize students from groups that are underrepresented in the biological sciences. The Associate’s REU duties will include helping with recruitment and selection of student participants, mentoring participants over the summer to ensure they have a good experience, helping to write NSF funding proposals and progress reports, and keeping abreast of best practices in undergraduate education.
