Position Description:

The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry is conducting a search for a full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Family Dentistry.  Major responsibilities include: 

  • mentoring pre-doctoral dental students;

  • providing clinical and didactic instruction;

  • conducting research/scholarly activity;

  • consultation/supervision of all phases of direct comprehensive dental patient care (including implant therapy and fixed and removable prosthodontics) in the pre-doctoral student clinic; and

  • participation in the department’s faculty intramural practice.

Education Requirement:

Applicants must have: 

  • D.D.S./D.M.D. or equivalent; and

  • by time of appointment, completion of advanced training program in prosthodontics from a CODA-accredited program.

Desirable Qualifications:

Desirable qualifications include: 

  • demonstrated record of innovative teaching methodologies in an evolving pre-doctoral dental curriculum;

  • Master’s degree in Oral Biology (or equivalent);

  • knowledge and proficiency mentoring others in a dental laboratory environment;

  • advanced training or expertise in dental biomaterials;

  • at least five years of dental practice experience via private practice, military, or in an educational environment; and

  • other relevant teaching and practice experience.
