Position Description: | The University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is recruiting faculty candidates in all Pediatric subspecialties for its Program in Pediatric Research. The mission of the Program for Pediatric Research is to support research into the causes and cures of childhood illness and the improvement of child health. These tenure track positions will support promising investigators in basic, translational, and clinical research in pediatrics. Appointment at the rank of Associate of Pediatrics (non-tenure track) may also be considered. The Program provides a generous start-up package and protected time. The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is one of the top biomedical research institutions in the nation and ranked 38th overall by the 2020 U.S. News & World Report and 41st among public medical schools for NIH funding in FY18. Stead Family Department of Pediatrics ranked 27th in NIH funding among all public pediatric departments nationwide in FY19. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children’s Hospital trains 47 pediatric residents. The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa’s only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2019-2020 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in six pediatric specialties in the Best Children’s Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including neonatology, orthopedics, diabetes and endocrinology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children’s care. Required Qualifications: | Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty License or eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa |
Desirable Qualifications: | Teaching competence in pediatrics for medical students and residents Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to receive and/or have current federal funding or equivalent external funding Evidence of a track record in productivity of scientific publications and peer-reviewed external funding Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills |
