University of Iowa Genetics Cluster Hire Initiative
Recruiting Nurse Faculty in Genetics/Genomics
The University of Iowa (UI) College of Nursing is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position for junior or senior faculty in nursing with a focus in genetics/genomics to develop or expand a research program in genetics/genomics. As a major research university, we are well positioned to support faculty candidates who have existing or development research programs of study to support the mission of the college and contribute to the teaching, research, and service initiatives to advance Genetics. This recruitment is part of a Provost-supported cluster hire initiative at the University of Iowa. Genetics, both as a basic science and in clinical practice, plays a critical and highly visible role in advancing personalized medicine and public health. Genetics will be the basis of future research unraveling the connections between our DNA sequences and our risks for clinical disease and will provide a national basis for prevention, intervention and cure. Genetics transcends departments, colleges and disciplines and generates both needs and services in the basic sciences, health care, bioethics, law bioinformatics and communications. The successful candidate for this position will teach in the undergraduate and graduate programs, in the College, participate in the interdisciplinary activities of the Genetics Cluster Initiative, and provide the liaison between the College of Nursing faculty with research activities related to genetics and genomics and the genetics cluster.
As a leader in nursing education, research, and practice innovations, The UI College of Nursing has received national recognition by U.S. News & World Report ranking seven of its graduate programs among the best in the nation (in comparison to all public and private schools). Areas of research excellence include gerontology, health systems improvement and pain, palliative care and symptom management. Emerging areas of emphasis include management of chronic conditions and health promotion in at-risk populations. Cross cutting approaches include applied genomics/omics/biomarkers, health information technology and community engagement.

Earned doctorate in nursing or a doctorate in a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in a defined area of nursing.
Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Recognized record of accomplishment via publication in leading journals.
Ability to establish or maintain an extramurally-funded research program.
Eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
