Position Description:

The University of Iowa, Department of Health and Human Physiology, Health and Physical Activity Skills Program: Assistant in Instruction. The non-tenure track position is for the academic year, 2018-2019, and renewable for a total of three years (2018-2021), and renewable thereafter in three year increments pending collegiate approval and demonstrated excellence in teaching.  Duties of this position include teaching a variety of physical activity skills courses (examples include yoga, relaxation techniques, and pilates); developing and revising curriculum for HPAS courses, and developing new HPAS courses.

Education Requirement:

A BA/BS degree in a field related to Recreation and Sport Studies, Health Promotion, Physical Education, or Health and Human Physiology

Required Qualifications:

At least two years’ experience in teaching or leading physical activity skills, physical education, or sport skills programs.



Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management and organizational skills.

Certifications:

CPR/AED certification necessary before the first day of class.  

Desirable Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in the above disciplines. 



200 hour registered yoga teacher, American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, or equivalent certification.



At least two years’ experience in teaching or leading physical activity skills in a higher education institution.
