The Department of Family Medicine is recruiting for either a one or two year full-time research development position that will lead to a certificate in Translational Science and Clinical Investigation (one year) or a Master's in Clinical Investigation (two years). Both programs are through the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Iowa, College of Public Health. The selected candidate will spend 50% time on faculty development, including coursework and research activities to prepare for research in family medicine, and 50% time in clinical care and teaching. Opportunities exist to participate in our obstetrics/newborn or inpatient services.
This position will report to Dr. Barcey Levy, Professor of Family Medicine and Epidemiology, IAFP Chair in Rural Medicine, and Director of the Iowa Research Network. Dr. Levy will meet regularly with the successful candidate to develop a plan of study and a research portfolio. There will be regular on-going feedback, both informal and formal.
The successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Family Medicine residency program.
Must have or be eligible for an Iowa medical license.
American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) board certification in Family Medicine.
Patient care experience in a primary care environment.
Some prior teaching experience.
Some background in primary care research.
