POSITION SUMMARY: The Division of Student Life; Recreational Services is seeking a Climbing Wall Attendant to check in climbers, supervise the wall, instruct climbing lessons, administer safety checks, risk management control, assist with LLS climbing classes and maintain a safe climbing area. May also assist at the Outdoor Rental Center.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

• Knowledge of all policies and procedures of facilities, programs, equipment and operations
• Responds to all building emergencies (accidents/injuries, inclement weather, etc.)
• General understanding of all the operations of Touch the Earth as well as other Recreational Services departments
• Greets climbers while checking them into the climbing area
• Assist to keep facilities/equipment in excellent condition while also providing great customer service to our members
• Works cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals
• Promotes a safe, clean, functional and marketable facility
• Performs other work as assigned

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate/Range: $11.50

WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours: 6-20 hours/week

Work Week: May work weekends

Additional Hours: As needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have a current Top Rope Approval Card, preferably from the UI
• Previous climbing experience
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact with various groups through a different situations
• Mandatory attendance at training meetings
• Strong problem-solving and good judgement
• A passion for the outdoors!
