The University of Iowa Department of Surgery is seeking a temporary, hourly Research Assistant to support Dr. Weigel's laboratory by assisting with basic research activities focused on understanding transcription mechanisms in breast cancer and melanoma. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Perform basic research activities, including procedures on laboratory animals

• Assist with experimental design, including revising protocols

• Data collection and analysis

• Compiling results to present to team

• Assist with general laboratory operations, equipment cleaning, and troubleshooting

• Reviewing scientific literature

• Other duties as assigned

Schedule: This position is expected to work on an as-needed basis, up to 20 hours/week.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Biological science or health degree preferred

• Previous research experience

• Previous experience handling laboratory animals
