The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a temporary, part-time Laboratory Assistant to support the research activities of Dr. Susan Shen’s laboratory. The Shen Lab focuses on improving clinical decision-making by examining how an individual's unique risk factors are shaped by the complex interaction of genetic predispositions and dynamic environmental influences. To better understand these relationships, the laboratory utilizes a broad range of data modalities, including genomics, microscopy imaging, cellular and animal models, and human participant data to characterize molecular, cellular, and behavioral phenotypes.

Responsibilities include:

• Primary duty will be washing and autoclaving glassware and plasticware

• May assist with ordering supplies and keeping inventory

• May assist with laboratory cleaning and equipment maintenance

• May assist with data organization in shared databases

• May assist with adherence to safety and compliance guidelines

• May assist with other tasks to support laboratory operations

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Outstanding interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills

• Organizational skills and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other STEM field

• Hands-on experience with cell culture techniques

• Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques

• Familiarity with statistics and experience with R programming language
