| Details | IIHR – Hydroscience and Engineering (www.iihr.uiowa.edu/ (http://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/)) at the University of Iowa (https://uiowa.edu/ (https://uiowa.edu/)) seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research scholar for a position that will contribute to the efforts of the Superfund Program (ISRP) under the supervision of Dr. Keri Hornbuckle. The initial appointment is full-time for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding. Research will be related to the aims of Project 3 and the Analytical Core of the ISRP. The primary expectation is the submission and publication of research findings, including associated datasets. Additional expectations of the position are the mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students, support for collaborations within and outside the ISRP through regular meetings, and development of proposal ideas for future work. Required Education: Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering prior to starting the position. Required Qualifications: Experience in chemical and data analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other semivolatile organic compounds (SOCs). Prior experience and significant expertise in preparing manuscripts for publication to highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals. Prior experience and significant level of expertise in the support for and management of diverse teams of collaborators He/she should also demonstrate the ability to communicate research findings to the general public at the interface of environmental engineering and environmental health. Prior experience mentoring students focused on daily support for laboratory training and assessment of the quality of laboratory measurements. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the publication of scientific studies on PCBs and other SOCs in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific studies.
