The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the following 3-semester hour course taught Fall semester 2026:

• EDTL:3164 - Intermediate Reading & Language Arts Methods, 3-6
  • This course teaches theoretical foundations and practical skills for pre-service elementary education majors becoming reflective professionals who can design and implement effective reading and language arts instruction; authentic formative assessment for economically, academically, culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse children in grades 3-6.

Job Functions

Instruction and student support for the 3-semester hour course will include the following responsibilities:

• Development of a course syllabus for the course.
• Leading instruction for the course.
• Providing meeting time for students enrolled in the course.
• Managing the online course system (ICON) for the course.

Education Requirement

Master's degree in an education-related field. Special consideration will be given to literacy-related fields like Developmental Reading, Literacy, or Elementary Education.

Qualifications

Adjunct Instructor must have completed an accredited Teacher Education Program in the United States and held a teaching license in the United States.

Required Experience

Adjunct Instructor must have successfully completed a minimum of two years of teaching at the Elementary, Middle School, Junior High School or High School level in the United States.
