The Iowa Geological Survey is looking for a student assistant. Create lithologic descriptions of available rock core, preform in situ nondestructive multielement analysis via portable XRF, assist with sample preparation and heavy mineral separation as part of a IGS Earth Mapping Resource Initiatives (Earth MRI) project funded by the U.S. Geological Survey. Will also create lithologic strip logs from wells in Clinton and Dubuque County for IGS STATEMAP projects funded by the US. Geological Survey.

Must be detail oriented and comfortable working independently. Applicants MUST have been enrolled as a student at a college or university in the 2026 academic year.
