Dental Pharmacy – University of Iowa College of Dentistry

Join a unique pharmacy embedded within a College of Dentistry—one of the only such settings nationwide. This role offers hands-on experience in patient care, counseling, compounding, and pharmacy operations for a motivated Student Pharmacist enrolled in an accredited PharmD program.

Hours: Part-time, flexible schedule available within Monday-Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Availability during school year, over holiday breaks, and in the summer.  No evening or weekend shifts are required.

Student Pharmacists work under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and perform a variety of duties:

•Patient Care

  -Provide individualized prescription counseling

  -Recommend OTC products (e.g., pain, allergy, dry mouth, whitening)

  -Address minor health inquiries and assist with insurance verification

•Pharmacy Operations and Preparation

  -Prepare and dispense prescriptions per regulations

  -Compound non-sterile, non-hazardous medications (USP 795)

  -Manage inventory and maintain pharmacy cleanliness

Qualifications:

•Enrolled and in good standing in an accredited PharmD program.

•Valid Iowa Pharmacy Intern License.

•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

•Detail-oriented, efficient, and HIPAA-compliant.
