BASIC FUNCTION 

Providing a safe and welcoming environment at the Macbride Nature Recreational Area, located at 2095 Mehaffey Bridge Rd NE, Solon IA. This includes grooming the grounds, maintaining the trails, completing daily rounds throughout the park, and other responsibilities as defined. 

  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Opening/closing park entrance
  • Clearing debris from roads
  • Readying facilities for UI Wild programming needs
  • Cleaning restroom facilities
  • Recording well data
  • Picking up trash
  • Mowing grass
  • Reviewing monthly and weekly task lists provided to you
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment
  • Reviewing the project list as needed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Core applicator license 
  • Chain saw certified
  • First aid certified 

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Previous park experience
  • FEMA disaster response certified
  • Knowledge of ecology and/or native plants. 

 

WORK HOURS 

  • Monday – Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break
  • This position will begin on March 2, 2026, and end in one calendar year. Renewal may be an option. 

 

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

  • Criminal Background Check upon hire. 
  • CPR/AED/First-Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire. 
  • All online trainings required by the University of Iowa Youth Programs Protocol.
  • All online trainings required by University of Iowa Environmental Health and Safety for employees that work outside.  

 

 

RATE OF PAY 

$24.00/hour
