POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLAR

A postdoctoral research associate position is immediately available in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa. The successful candidate will participate in research projects focused on creation of novel therapeutic development and cancer biology.

The ideal candidate will have (or be soon completing) a doctoral degree in cancer biology, tumor immunology, or a related field. The candidate must be highly motivated with evidence of productivity from peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. Candidates skilled in in vitro and in vivo studies and techniques in molecular biology (Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, among others) are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate should ideally have experience using SolidWorks, Graphpad, and Adobe Illustrator. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desirable.

The successful candidate will be joining a team of biomedical engineers, cancer biologists, and radiation oncologists and will contribute to the ongoing work in the treatment of cancer and other disease states. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment such as a small animal radiation research platform (SARRP), cabinet irradiators, and in vivo imagers.

The initial appointment for this position is for one years, with the potential for extension for a total appointment of up to 4 years based on interest and performance. This position is available immediately and will begin at a mutually agreed upon date. Salary is based on years of experience after obtaining the Ph.D. degree and is determined by the Graduate College (https://grad.uiowa.edu/postdocs/salary (https://grad.uiowa.edu/postdocs/salary)). Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. 

Required Qualifications:

1.      Completion of Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in cancer biology, tumor immunology, or similar area of study.

2.      Evidence of productivity from peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.

3.      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Desirable Qualifications:

1.      Laboratory skills: in vitro and in vivo studies, flow cytometry, and techniques in molecular biology

2.      Experience with mouse models.

3.      Competency in SolidWorks, Graphpad, and Adobe Illustrator
