The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics seeks a temporary part-time Research Assistant to work in the lab of Dr. Nicholas Trapp.  The Trapp Lab focuses on the application and optimization of neuromodulation therapies for the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions using innovative methods of applying brain stimulation treatment to address difficult-to-treat conditions.

Responsibilities include:

Conducting all procedures associated with a psychiatric clinical trial to include patient transport, patient assessments, data input and management, communicating with the research and clinical teams, and delivering transcranial magnetic stimulation treatments.

This position will require some early morning, evening, or weekend hours and the ability to work shifts with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Work will involve treatment of psychiatric inpatients.

There will be an expectation that the applicant can attend Thursday afternoon lab meetings at the University of Iowa Hospitals in addition to the hourly work.

The successful candidate will be required to complete necessary certifications (MOAB training, TMS certification).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in psychiatry, psychology, biomedical, neuroscience, or related field.

Prior experience or a background in behavioral health or clinical trials.

Prior human subjects research experience.

Minimum 1 year prior laboratory experience in a neuroscience field.

Note:  This is a temporary, short-term and less-than six months position. Paid hourly.
