The Healthier Workforce Center of the Midwest (HWC) is one of ten Total Worker Health Centers of Excellence funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The Center was established in 2006 and is built upon extensive investigator experience in occupational health and safety, ergonomics, and health promotion. The vision of the HWC is to create a safe, healthy, and productive workforce.

This 50%-time graduate research assistant (GRA) will be based in the Healthier Workforce Center of the Midwest (HWC) in the College of Public Health. The GRA will assist with updating online trainings focused on young worker safety and health (PUSH) and supervisors of young workers (Supervisor Training). This will include updating content, photos, quiz questions, and revising scripts for short videos and overseeing video production. Trainings will need to be uploaded into the online Training Source system and reviewed. Travel to sites to film videos may be required.

Required qualifications

Experience developing visual media (e.g., PowerPoints, online training software such as Articulate 360)

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of team

Demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Develop coordinated projects that may include video and print materials

Align appropriate media and communication tools for the intended audience.

Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.

Desirable qualifications

 Proficiency in story writing and editing

Experience writing short video scripts

Knowledge of occupational safety and health topics
