The Iowa Institute of Oral Health Research (IIOHR) is seeking a Laboratory Research Associate to provide laboratory assistance including working with C. elegans/cell culture and performing PCR, Western blot, fluorescent microscopy and culturing microorganisms. The laboratory research associate will be collecting and analyzing data and be responsible for keeping a laboratory notebook. Additionally, the laboratory research associate will be responsible for preparing and autoclaving standard laboratory solutions and media.

Duties will include:

• Working with C. elegans and cell culture.
• Perform PCR, Western blot, fluorescent microscopy, and culture microorganisms.
• Collect and analyze data.
• Maintain a laboratory notebook.
• Prepare and autoclave standard laboratory solutions and media.
• Assist with some general laboratory tasks.

Prefer individual have some research experience working in a laboratory.

Work schedule: 

M-F, flexible hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

30-40 hours/week for three months (Ex: May – Aug).

Rate of Pay:  $11.00/Hour
