The Division of Student Life: University Housing & Dining is seeking a Temporary Custodian I for Custodial Services. Under direct supervision, the Temporary Custodian performs a variety of tasks including trash removal; housecleaning and moving furniture.  Locations of assignments will be in multiple buildings and can change often. 

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Cleaning/sanitizing student rooms and public spaces in all residence halls
  • Trash removal; inside and outside of building
  • Floor work including vacuuming and scrubbing
  • Service to horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings and light fixtures
  • Bed Configurations, moving furniture, load/unload trucks
  • Use of commercial custodial equipment
  • Professional communication with students, staff, co-workers and visitors
  • Position includes labor intensive work including lifting, pushing and pulling

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate: $16.97/hour 

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Typically working 8 hour shifts between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm

Shift: First shift

Additional Hours: Occasional additional hours may be offer to cover peak periods of operational needs.

Additional Information: Summer temporary position. All candidates must attend orientation on June 4th, 2025. No paid time off or benefits are included in this position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to read, write, and follow directions
  • Must be able to perform heavy physical labor and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb a ladder up to 12 feet
  • Must be able to work in heat, humidity, and dust
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals
  • Good attendance and reliability
  • Provide a high level of communication
