The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Neurology is seeking Student Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technologists to support both the Electroencephalogram (EEG) Lab and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).

Responsibilities

• Perform electroneurodiagnostic procedures under the supervision of a registered END technologist
• Assist END technologists in complex electroneurodiagnostic procedures
• Provide information and instruction to patients regarding the procedure and the reason for referral
• Perform equipment cleaning and organization to maintain lab cleanliness
• Complete additional tasks as assigned

Work locations will include the laboratory, adult and pediatric units, and bedside (i.e. ICU settings) but will exclude the medical psychiatry units. This position may float between the EEG and EMU, based on unit needs.

Rate of pay: $15/hour

Schedule: Rotating shifts, primarily nights and weekends. Maximum of 20 hours/week during academic semesters; 40 hours/week during breaks.

Qualifications

• Current participation in a 24-month END Technology program or other applicable program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• EEG experience is desired.
