The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Master of Health Administration Intern to work directly with departmental leaders to provide strategic solutions to identified issues and work across various business functions to understand the comprehensive services that the department provides to its internal and external customers. This internship program will provide 18 months of on-the-job training through three functional area rotations, including leadership (research and synthesis), finance and analytics (data, methodology and metrics), and operations (problem solving). This program was created with the intention of developing strategic and trusted advisors for the future of health care and is designed for high-potential individuals who want to have an impact on that future.

Responsibilities to include:

· Research, synthesize and write focused reports to address departmental issues.

· Partner with departmental subject matter experts to deliver high-quality, timely solutions to strategic, financial, analytic, and operational issues.

· Develop analytical solutions to assess opportunities for departmental improvement in the areas of quality, patient experience, and team satisfaction.

· Create presentations, data visualizations and analyses.

· Assist with project management duties to improve workstreams through input from various stakeholders.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

· Master’s degree candidate in an applied health care field (health care administration, health care policy)

· Must be currently registered as a student at the University of Iowa

· Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical and analytical information to meaningful insights

· Detail oriented and efficient with time management

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable Qualifications:

· Prior work experience in a hospital/health system or health care related company

· Experience participating in projects of different sizes and managing work streams

· Some experience working with interdisciplinary teams and across levels

· Ability to synthesize technical and analytical information into understandable recommendations for internal team preferred

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel

· Comfortable with databases

Job Details:

· Appointment duration: Jan 3, 2023, through June 30, 2024

· Flexible work schedule, up to 20 hours per week while school is in session

· Pay rate: $18.00 per hour
