The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a HOURLY (PRN) - Staff Nurse (10 - 20 hours per week) to work evenings at our UICC Cedar Rapids Pediatric Clinic. 

The hours for this position will primarily be evening clinics hours from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with occasional standard 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM hours.


Located in the heart of Cedar Rapid's downtown medical district, our nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients. Pediatricians specialize in the care of infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatricians provide a range of services from well-child care, to basic childhood immunizations and illnesses, to managing complex medical conditions and chronic disorders.


Our pediatricians are members of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital team which means they work hand-in-hand with all pediatric specialists at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The use of one electronic medical record for each patient ensures constant and timely communication between your child’s entire medical team.


Our nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

Assess patients’ nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice. Provide leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards.

Percent of Time: 25% (10 - 20 hours per week) 

Schedule: Evening shifts, Monday - Friday, work hours completed from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (as needed), ability to work weekdays with hours from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM as needed, no on-call time.

Salary: $25.34 up to $50.00 

Qualifications - External
Education

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association

Desired Qualifications

·         Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing is desired.
If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.

·         1 - 3 years of pediatric nursing experience.

·         Ambulatory nursing care experience, including telephone triage experience in the outpatient setting.
