The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Rehabilitation Therapies is seeking a PRN Physical Therapist Assistant to perform prescribed rehabilitation treatments primarily in an inpatient acute setting.
- Carry out and progress treatment plans
- Instruct patients in exercise performance and training techniques
- Ensure patient safety at all times during rehabilitation sessions
- Continuously evaluate the patients' response to rehabilitation interventions
- Implement treatment modifications as needed
- Make necessary adjustments to exercise equipment to promote maximum safety, comfort and effectiveness.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure safe operation of rehabilitation equipment
- Complete physical therapy documentation in the medical record within the prescribed timelines
- Provide oversight and direction to rehabilitation aides
- Instruct and evaluate physical therapy assistant students

Required Qualifications
- An Associate Arts degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program or completion of the requirements leading to educational exemption as defined by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certifications
- License in accord with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working with inpatients in an acute care setting
- Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
- Behavioral characteristics and attitudes that contribute to a positive work environment
- Works effectively with the supervising physical therapists
- Effectively manages difficult and/or medically complex patients
- Demonstrated effort to enhance one's own knowledge, skills and abilities
