Position Description:

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa is seeking applicants for an adjunct faculty position to teach in the area of pharmacy law and ethics. The faculty member selected for this position will deliver the pharmacy law and ethics content and understanding necessary for our student pharmacists to pass required Board examinations and subsequently practice pharmacy in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This requires coverage of the legal and ethical responsibilities of a pharmacist and those they supervise, Federal and State of Iowa laws and regulations on the practice of pharmacy including the Iowa Pharmacy Practice Act, the handling of controlled and non-controlled-prescriptions and non-prescription-medications (including significant historical aspects and current context), with special attention to priority areas as outlined in the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and the NAPLEX Competency Statements and applicable educational outcomes included in the CAPE Outcomes 2013.

Specifically, this involves coordination and delivery of the third year course, Phar:8378 Pharmacy Law and Ethics (2 SH) and creation and administration of two modules intended for first and second year students in Pharmacy Law Topics for the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience series of courses.

Teaching schedule and salary are to be determined.

Required Qualifications:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited College/School of Law

Knowledge and experience in pharmacy laws and regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry.

Ability to communicate new concepts in verbal and written formats to allow learners to demonstrate understanding and application.

Desired Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree with equivalent experience.
