POSITION SUMMARY:The Division of Student Life; Iowa Memorial Union Event Services is seeking a temporary Custodian I to provide safe, clean and healthy environments in all Cultural and Resource Centers located on the west side of campus. Duties to include:

Floor work including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing

Clean and provide service to all horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings and light fixtures. Working at elevated heights is required

Clean, sanitize and disinfect all restroom surfaces

Use of commercial cleaning equipment

Trash removal both inside and around the exterior of the building

Moving of furniture, supplies and equipment

Report and communicate repair needs for buildings and equipment

Ability to perform a high level of professional communication with students, staff, co-workers and visitors

Position is required to perform a high level of physical activity including positioning self to move objects

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate: $13.04 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE:

Tuesdays &Thursdays, 8 AM - 4:30 PM, and Saturdays, 8 AM - 12 PM

BACKGROUND CHECK:

Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read, write and follow directions

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions

Commercial custodial experience

Experience using commercial cleaning equipment

Experience performing project work including specialty floor applications

Ability to work in a variety of environments

Knowledge of proper positioning and moving techniques

Ability to work independently and in a team setting

Ability to adapt to changing situations

Experience working in a diverse work environment
