Working Title UI Wellness Health Coach

The liveWELL program (UI Wellness, University Human Resources) is seeking qualified individuals to provide health coaching to University of Iowa faculty and staff on a part-time basis. A great candidate will work a split schedule between Campus Recreation and Wellness Center and University Employee Health Clinic (Boyd Tower) locations, as well as attend staff meetings and trainings. They will possess the communication and support skills to help UI employees reach their full health, well-being, and performance potential by fostering an open, positive, confidential and encouraging environment to make health-related lifestyle changes and improvements, as well as exercise excellent independent judgment. Coaching skills and tools involve motivational interviewing and behavior-change theory foundations, along with evidence-based education in areas of weight management, exercise, nutrition, stress and time management, and knowledge of mobile apps, websites, and local resources to supplement behavior change goals. Programmatic training is provided but required qualifications MUST be met in order to be considered for this position.

Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field. 1-3 years experience working with direct client/patient contact in a health care, wellness, fitness, and/or recreational setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook.

Desired qualifications: Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Wellcoaches or NBC-HWC-endorsed coaching program. Master’s Degree. Knowledge of University of Iowa and local resources that support well-being.

Hourly pay rate: $16.40 per hour to commensurate, based on experience.

Schedule type: ongoing, part-time (5-12 hours per week), flexible/negotiable hours between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., no weekends or holidays
