The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is looking for a Research Assistant for Professor Kochanska’s laboratory (Child Lab). She and her research team are engaged in a large 5-year study, funded by NICHD. They conduct lengthy observational sessions and interviews with parents and young children, code their behavior from recordings, create data files and analyze data for publication. The team includes professional staff and graduate and undergraduate students. Extensive training will be provided. Starting date is flexible, but no later than July 1, 2018.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • strong academic credentials with a BA or BS in psychology or related field,
  • a minimum of 6 months -1 year of research experience in a laboratory,
  • a strong interest in developmental psychology or psychopathology, or clinical psychology,
  • very high attention to detail,
  • good organizational skills,
  • a productive, collegial interpersonal style and capacity for teamwork,
  • effective communication skills that would assure comfortable interactions with parents and very young children, and

  • occasional availability to conduct sessions with families in the evenings and on weekends.

This is an hourly position, which does not include fringe benefits. The rate of pay will begin at $17.94 hr (commensurate with experience). As a context for learning invaluable research skills, this position provides a fantastic preparation for future graduate and research careers. It also offers opportunities for co-authorships on publications and presenting work at conferences.
