Stead Family Department of Pediatrics- Pediatric Cardiology Exercise/Holter Laboratory is seeking a PRN, temporary,Exercise Physiologist to assist with device interrogations and provide direct patient care and technical support in the performance of diagnostic exercise tests beginning in November2017.

Job duties include:

1. Provide all support for any type of heart monitoring done in an outpatient settings. This includes: Holter monitors, 30 day event monitors, Implantable loop recorders. Currently we are providing hook up, patient education, report creation, and billing on 50 Holters per month, 12-15 event monitors and 40 implantable loop recorders.
2. Perform all exercise testing performed in Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinics. The volume of this is increasing as we look expand our services to stress echocardiography.
3. Perform orthostatic heart rate and blood pressure testing for patients being evaluated for POTs and Syncope in Pediatric Cardiology. On average this is about 6 patients per week.
4. Perform exercise and fitness assessments on patients diagnosed with POTs or dysautonomia. An individualized exercise prescription is then provided based on the results of this testing.
5. Assist with outpatient EKGs performed in the Pediatric Specialty clinic.
6. Assist and provide extra coverage for in clinic pacemaker and ICD interrogations.
7. Provide patient discharge education information on new device (pacemaker, ICD, implantable loop recorders) implantations.

Education required: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field

Experience required:

    • Clinical rotation or internship experience in the areas of rehabilitation or physiology that include performing exercise testing; OR a minimum of 6 months’ professional experience performing exercise testing.

    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
