Contribute to the success of the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics by providing administrative services through the coordination and support of operational activities. This position is responsible for performing administrative support/management duties for the Institute, including coordinating meetings and events, maintaining website content, providing HR support, and making travel arrangements. This team member will also manage ordering and billing operations within the Genomics Division of the Institute.

Characteristic Duties of the Administrative Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

Support the daily operations of an office, project or program, including coordination of specialized events and activities, appropriateness of expenditures, contract or grant requirements and changes in policies and procedures.

Make decisions and exercise a high level of autonomy while typically performing administrative support/management responsibilities for executives of an organization (e.g. Deans, Directors, DEOs, VPs), including managing schedules, correspondence, and travel arrangements.

Initiate HR transactions at the request of others.

Initiate purchasing requests for supplies and equipment.

Monitor accounts/expenditures; reconcile statements.

Assist with the preparation of reports and other financial information for other unit.

Prepare routine, standardized reports following per-established processes.

Typically is the primary contact for the project, program, unit, department or collect/division by providing information and responding to inquiries.

Gather and provide information using available resources.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Requires 6 months -1 year of administrative experience.

Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word is required.

Previous customer service experience is highly desirable.

Knowledge of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics policies, procedures and regulations is desirable.
