How do I apply for a specific Professional and Scientific position?
To apply for most P&S positions, you must sign up for a Jobs@UIOWA username and password. Once you have successfully become a member of Jobs@UIOWA, you may use your username and password to log into the system and fill out a General Employment Application.
After completing your General Employment Application, you can perform a job search to find a job you would like to apply for. Click on the job title to view the job's details and "Online Application Options". If you would like to apply, click the "Apply For This Position" button to start the application.
If there is not an "Apply For This Position" button on the job details page, then follow the instructions listed.

You may only view advertisements for positions that you applied to.

The minimum rate for the position will be listed for the position. The hiring department will determine your salary based on your related education, experience, and available funds.
Top of PageWhat is the pay schedule for P&S positions?
The current pay schedule is available on the Human Resources Classification and Compensation web site under Pay Plans Directory, and also in the University Human Resources office in 102 University Services Building, 1 W. Prentiss Street.
Top of PageHow are individuals selected for interviews?
The department recruiting for the vacancy will review résumés and compare the information to the requirements of the position. The Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity will review and approve the proposed interview list prior to the department beginning the interview process.

This will depend on the hiring department. Most departments will have you interview with more than one person, in a group setting or on an individual basis.
Top of PageHow are the final decision and job offer made?
After the interview process is completed and the information is reviewed by the hiring department, a summary of the information will be submitted for review by the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity. If the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity approves the department's recommended candidate, the hiring department may make a valid job offer. The job offer is usually made verbally and followed by a letter confirming the offer and conditions of employment.
