Position Description:

There is an open joint post-doctoral position in the laboratories of Samuel Young, PhD and Marlan Hansen, MD at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City, IA.

The Young and Hansen laboratories are working in collaboration to develop novel viral vector mediated gene therapy approaches to treat sensorineural hearing loss.



The Young and Hansen laboratories are in the Pappajohn BioMedical Discovery Building https://medicine.uiowa.edu/pbi/  and are part of the Center for Auditory Regeneration and Deafness. https://medicine.uiowa.edu/center-auditory-regeneration-and-deafness The University of Iowa provides an outstanding intellectual environment and access to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, giving trainees multiple opportunities to take advantage of diverse knowledge, techniques, and expertise of the local community to incorporate into their research projects. 

Education Requirement:

Candidates must have a PhD in a related scientific discipline

Required Qualifications:

At least one first author publication.

Desirable Qualifications:

A background in virology, mouse models, inner ear biology, and hearing is preferred.
