The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine seeks candidates for multiple Postdoctoral Scholar positions in the laboratory of Jian Zhang, MD.
Our research focus is to utilize genetically modified mouse models to study the regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses by E3 ubiquitin ligases. Findings will be used to design novel therapeutic agents to suppress autoimmune/inflammatory and infectious diseases in murine models.
PhD or MD/PhD with no more than 2 years of graduate research experience.
Highly motivated and have extensive experience in cell signaling assays, flow cytometry and cell sorting, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, animal handling, experimental planning, and data interpretation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Experience in developing and analyzing genetic mouse models using CRISPR-Cas9 technology; In vitro T helper cell differentiation studies; mouse survival surgery; experience with the design, utilization, and evaluation of murine models of autoimmune diseases, allergic asthma, sepsis, viral infections, and disseminated candidiasis; ability to lead projects, and work co-operatively with other lab members as a team; and excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
