The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is recruiting a faculty member with teaching, research, and service responsibilities in Sports Medicine. Appointment is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and may be in either the clinical track or tenure track dependent upon the qualifications and goals of the individual. The successful candidate will build a practice including sports medicine. University and high school team and event coverage and outreach clinics will be clinical expectations of this appointment. The candidate should be open to performing outreach clinics in communities near Iowa City.
The candidate must be a graduate of an approved medical college.
The candidate must have graduated from a fully accredited orthopaedic residency.
Eligible for Iowa medical license.
Experience promoting a diverse workforce in an academic environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
The candidate must be a Board-certified or Board-eligible orthopedic surgeon.
Completion of a fellowship in Sports Medicine, shoulder and elbow, hip arthroscopy, or hip preservation.
Interest in shoulder surgery, advanced knee soft tissue reconstruction, and/or hip arthropscopy.
Interest in research evidenced by publications, grants, or other scholarly work that would be compatible with a tenure track appointment.
A commitment to ongoing performance improvement.
