The University of Iowa School of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure, Instructional Faculty track Lecturer position with clinical expertise in micro-level social work practice for the academic year 2019-20, beginning August 21, 2019 on the Des Moines Center Campus. The initial appointment is for one year (2019-20), renewable for up to two years (2020-21 and 2021-22), and renewable thereafter in three-year increments, pending collegiate approval and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This track does not include the possibility of tenure, but otherwise parallels the tenure track with various ranks (Lecturer, Associate Professor of Instruction, Professor of Instruction). Summer session teaching may be available for extra compensation. The position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate social work micro-practice courses, including but not limited to, Family Centered Theory and Practice I & II; Social Work Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups; Fundamentals of Social Work Practice and Interpersonal Skills Lab (for more information about the School’s curriculum see http://catalog.registrar.uiowa.edu/liberal-arts-sciences/social-work/ and http://catalog.registrar.uiowa.edu/courses/ssw/. The position also involves student advising and mentoring.
The School of Social Work offers programs at the B.A., M.S.W., and Ph.D. levels with faculty scholarship foci in the areas of aging, child welfare, family violence, mental health, and culturally competent social work practice. In addition to programs on our main Iowa City campus, we offer a BASW program in Des Moines, and MSW programs in Des Moines, Quad Cities and Sioux City.
